Fourteen year-old Patterson Mill high school student, Dan Golczewski, was  selected as The Arena Club’s very first “Athlete of the Week.” 

Dan has been swimming for several years and has been a part of the Arena Club Aquatics swim team since its inaugural season. 

At the Maryland State Swimming Championships held in early August this year at Saint Mary’s College, Dan swam in six events, placing in the top eight in four of  those events.  Dan finished in second place in both the 400 Free and 200 Fly, and earned a USA Swimming time standard of ‘AAAA’ in the 400 Free, 800 Free, and 200 Fly.  Dan also swam on a top-8 relay team.  One week later Dan swam in the Eastern Zone Open Water Championships where he finished 3rd in the 13-14 year old 2-kilometer event.
